Route Infomation:
From the word of Tokyo you suppose urban, however western area of Tokyo is mountainous district. A symbol of Tokyo mountain is Mt. Kumotori-yama with an elevation of 2,017m. It stands in Tokyo area, but it is class 2,000m mountain, also it is selected 100 Famous Mountains of Japan.
I achieved to hike through all mountains at the boundary of metropolitan and prefectures, not only their peeks but also trail along the boundary.

Photos are set below as east to west, west to southeast, along the boundary. So you could feel atmosphere of boundary mountains.

There are a lot of information concerning mountains at the boundary of metropolitan and prefectures, for example Mount Rec. However in the area, there is neither popular mountain trail nor guide in 5 areas, some are thicket, mountain stream. I showed them first photo.(Number 1 to 5)
